Extended Warranty

If your existing warranty is about to expire, or you don't have a warranty in place, you can choose to purchase an Extended Warranty on your vehicle. With a Volkswagen Extended Warranty, you’ll get 12 months’ cover against the costs of repairing or replacing mechanical and electrical components of your vehicle that have suffered sudden and unexpected failure during the period of cover. Subject to the maximum claim limit† and the terms and conditions of this policy. 

There are three levels of cover you can choose from: Essentials, Standard & Plus.                                         

• Essentials is our most affordable option, designed to protect your vehicle’s most critical systems. While it’s our entry-level plan, it still gives you solid protection against major issues that could leave you stranded.
• Standard cover offers greater peace of mind. It's for drivers who want more support, and security on the road.
• Plus is our top-tier cover. It goes far beyond the basics, protecting what matters most so you can drive with confidence every mile of the way.

†The maximum we will pay per claim is the market value of your vehicle at the time of the sudden failure (including VAT). All claims are subject to the terms and conditions that can be found in your Cover Booklet.

Volkswagen Extended Warranty is designed for anyone driving a Volkswagen that wants to protect themselves against the costs of repairing or replacing components, should they fail suddenly and unexpectedly. Additionally, it ensures that any necessary repairs will be carried out by a Volkswagen approved repairer, using Volkswagen genuine parts. *This price is based on a customer driving a Volkswagen with less than 60,000 miles and an with engine power output of less than 70 kilowatts (or similar), choosing essential cover with an excess of £250, to cover them driving less than 10,000 miles, within 30 days of their warranty expiring. When you buy your new Volkswagen from an authorised UK Retailer, you’ll get a three-year vehicle warranty. It includes a two-year unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty and a third-year warranty up to 60,000 miles. For full details click here or speak to your nearest Volkswagen Retailer.

If you buy an Approved Used Volkswagen, you will receive a minimum 12 months’ warranty. If you are unsure how long you have left on your existing warranty, please contact us.

To be eligible to benefit from this cover, you must confirm the following statements are correct:

• You don't live in the Isle of Man or the Channel Isles
• You are not in the motor trade or deal with the buying, selling or repairing of motor vehicles
• Your vehicle must not be used for hire or reward, public services (e.g. emergency services), professional instruction, competition or off-road use, motor rally, speed or duration tests or any practice for these events
• Your vehicle has not done more than 100,000 miles
• Your vehicle was not manufactured by anyone other than Volkswagen
• Your vehicle is not a kit car, grey import or powered by fuel cell(s) or LPG
• Your vehicle has not been modified from the manufacturers' specification (manufacturer fitted optional extras are not classed as being a modification)
• You must make sure your vehicle is serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's schedule
• Your vehicle is not a pre-series or special series vehicle (limited editions with less than 200 vehicles produced)

Yes, Volkswagen Extended Warranty will cover you in continental Europe, including popular locations such as France and Italy. However, some terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. To understand exactly where in continental Europe we provide cover, please consult your policy documents.

You can select to pay an excess of £250, £100 or £0. Paying a higher excess will reduce your premium. If you decide to select an excess please be aware this will apply to each repair claimed.

Our Volkswagen Extended Warranty is a 12-month insurance policy, and we will send you a renewal quote within 30 days of your policy expiring. As long as you haven’t gone over 100,000 miles, and you still meet the eligibility criteria, you should be able to extend your protection with us.

If a mechanical or electronic component in your car fails suddenly and unexpectedly, you can visit a Volkswagen Retailer and have a diagnostic check completed. A diagnostic scanner will be connected to your Volkswagen to complete a digital analysis of your car’s various computer systems and components. Any fault codes that appear will indicate to our Volkswagen trained technicians which related components should be investigated first.

Once the check is completed, and if the fault is determined to be covered by Volkswagen Extended Warranty, the Volkswagen Retailer can submit a claim on your behalf.

The cost of investigation and diagnostic work can only be authorised by you. In the event your claim is accepted, any diagnostic cost will be paid for by this policy. However, if the problem is not covered by the Warranty, you will remain responsible for any costs incurred.

If a component fails due to wear and tear, we will not cover the costs of repair or replacement. It’s really important you understand exactly what is and isn’t covered, so take a look at the policy documents for full information.

To make changes to your Volkswagen Extended Warranty, please call 0333 043 3781 and our customer service team will be happy to help. Lines are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (excluding bank holidays).

If Volkswagen Extended Warranty does not meet your requirements or should you decide to cancel it for any reason within a period of 14 days, you can obtain a full refund of the premium paid without charge, subject to no claims having been paid.

The 14 day period begins on the day you receive an email with your Confirmation of Cover. After the 14 day period, you can cancel your cover and be entitled to a pro-rata refund, subject to no claims having being paid. A cancellation fee of £25 applies and will be deducted from your refund amount.

If a claim has been paid out and you decide to cancel within the first 14 days, you will not be entitled to a refund and the full 12-month premium will be payable to us. The 14-day period begins on the day you receive an email with your Confirmation of Cover. If you cancel after the first 14 days, you will not be entitled to a refund and the full 12-month premium - in addition to an administration fee of £25 - will be payable to us.

Extended Warranty cannot be transferred from one vehicle to another since both the policy and price are tailored to your vehicle’s make and model.

Extended Warranty cannot be transferred from one person to another since the policy options you selected relate specifically to you and your vehicle. If you are selling your car, you’ll need to cancel your policy and they’ll have to setup their own cover.

If you need to make a claim, simply take your vehicle and Confirmation of Cover to your nearest Volkswagen Retailer.

Our policies cover repairs up to the market value of your vehicle. The market value of your vehicle is taken at the time of the sudden failure including VAT.
